  • You are required to pay an additional fee to take the NCLEX-RN

    To request NCLEX testing accommodations, Process to Request Accommodations 

  • If you currently hold an RN license with a Multistate privilege in a Compact state, you do not need a license in Montana to practice. If you are changing your primary state of residence to Montana, you will need to apply for a license in Montana.
  • If you do not hold a license in another US state, you will need to submit a credential evaluation service report from CGFNS or Josef Silny & Associates.  At this time, the Montana Board of Nursing is not accepting credential evaluations from any other credential review agency.  We will update our website if and when this changes.
  • Occurs every other year.  If you are an "odd" licensee, your license must be renewed by December 31st of odd numbered years, if you are an "even" licensee, your license must be renewed by December 31st of even numbered years. Renewal applications post marked or submitted online after this date are subject to additional fees.
  • $100.00
  • 24 contact hours of continuing education every two years due by the time of license renewal. A random audit of licensees will be performed.
