Apply for Emergency Care Provider (ECP) Licensure

ECP Licensure

The Montana Board of Medical Examiners has the statutory authority to license and regulate the practice of Emergency Care Providers, including:

  • Emergency Medical Responders (EMR)
  • Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT)
  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT)
  • Paramedics

If you seek information about EMS SERVICES (i.e. Ambulance Service) please contact the EMS and Trauma Systems Section of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services.

The qualifications for licensure are included in the   paper application and you mayapply online with the online application process.

Note: As of April 16, 2022 when MAR 24-156-92 was adopted, the Board no longer allows the Alternative Written Exam for ECPs pursuing Montana licensure.

Applying on-line

If applying online you’ll be directed to our eBiz web site. Once there,

  1. Create an account
  2. Select the “Health Care Licensing” tab
  3. Select “Apply for license”
  4. Agree to the terms
  5. Select “Medical Examiners” from the drop down box
  6. Select level of licensure you are applying for, EMR, EMT, AEMT or Paramedic
  7. Follow the steps for completing the application including uploading documents
  8. Pay for your application
