Montana does not require licensure for Dental Assistants; however, dental assistants and their supervising dentist have a number of regulations to be aware of to ensure compliance with board regulations. It is the responsibility of a supervising dentist to ensure dental assistants are qualified. As of 2019, certified dental assistants, through the national board, are allowed to perform specific functions under the general supervision of their dentist. See ARM 24.138.406.
