The FBI work is in progress and all applicants will be required to submit a fingerprint background check. You can do this in person in Helena or by mail from anywhere in the world. Find instructions at dojmt.gov/dci-home/background-checks.

Requirements for each license type are laid out in Montana Code Annotated, Title 37, Chapter 15, and Administrative Rules Of Montana, Title 24, Chapter 222. A simplified checklist can be found here.
Only the Limited Speech-Language Pathologist license cannot be renewed; it is good for two years, after which a new application must be submitted.
For all other license types, the renewal period is December 4–January 31 each year. Licenses expire at the end of January 31, but late renewal is still possible for 45 days after this with a late fee.
