Welcome to the Montana State Electrical Board

The State Electrical Board makes every effort to include on this website all relevant information pertaining to the licensing and regulation of electricians in Montana.

ATTENTION LICENSEES:

The 2022 renewals for both Electricians and Electrical Contractors will be at 100% Abatement.  This means, there is no cost to renew your license this cycle.  However, renewals received postmarked after July 15, 2022 will be charged the full regular renewal fee, plus late fees.  You can renew your license starting on May 15th, 2022.

Please use the quick links located on the top of this page to renew online. It is mandatory that you still renew your license in order to answer the continuing education and disciplinary questions for your electrician license and the affirmation of insurance and forms, disciplinary question and acknowledgment of responsibility affirmation and form (if required) if you are renewing an electrical contractor license.

As of June 10, 2022, the State of Montana has adopted the 2020 NFPA 70 (2020 NEC), the 2021 Uniform Plumbing Code (2021 UPC), the 2021 International Existing Building Code, the 2021 International Mechanical Code, the 2021 International Fuel Gas Code, the 2021 International Building Code, the 2021 International Residential Code, and the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code.  Official versions of these administrative rules will not be available until published by the Secretary of State.  Click the button to check for Updated Publishing.
