Construction Blaster

The following outlines general licensing information. Please see the Checklist for full details. This license does not apply to the private or commercial use of explosives by persons engaged in farming, ranching, logging, geophysical work, drilling or development of water, oil, or gas wells, or mining of any kind or to the private use of explosives in the removal of stumps and rocks from land owned by the person using the explosives.
  • $70 Application Fee
    $40 Annual Renewal Fee
  • Applicants must have successfully complete 2 years of experience in construction blasting under the direct supervision of a licensed construction blaster. And because of that experience is familiar with the practical aspects of construction blasting, must be at least 18 years of age, not have a felony or misdemeanor convictions involving the use of explosives and must completed an approved training course.
  • Annual Renewal
    Regular Renewal dates:     November 1 - January 1
    Late Renewals are assessed an additional $40 late fee
  • A license may be issued if the applicant has a current certificate, license or permit issued by another state or agency in the United States, if it is determined that the requirements are equivalent to those required in Montana.
